Tour of Pamukkale and Lake Salda from Antalya

The majority of tourists dream about Pamukkale and Lake Salda as their wishful destinations in Turkey. Only here you can see ancient ruins, plunge into thermal spring « Cleopatra pool » and wander on unique travertines.

The 1st part of the tour

The pick-up is scheduled for the morning. On the outskirts of Antalya there will be a breakfast stop. Guests can take lunch packages from your hotel or order food at an additional charge which is not included in the total price.
The first part of the tour programme will be an hour-long stop at Lake Salda, a crater of an extinct volcano. It is a unique natural landmark at the foot of the Mount Esler. Because of its rich turquoise and scenic coastal zone, Salda Lake is often referred to as the Turkish Maldives.
The banks of the lake are covered with white sand. In fact, it is the remains of volcanic magma. Walking on such «sand» is a great pleasure.
There’s a hole on the shore with curative mud – white clay. You can cover only your face or your whole body. This procedure is useful for joints and skin.
The lake occupies an area of about 45 sq. m. and a depth of about 185 m. The water is so transparent that the bottom is easily visible.
All those who want to take a bath should take a swimsuit and towels. There is a free beach with changing rooms.
Then the tourist group is going to have a buffet lunch.

The 2nd part of the tour

In the afternoon the trip to Pamukkale is planned, which includes:
– The ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis;
– Visit to the thermal spring « Cleopatra Pool»;
– The Necropolis visit.
Three hours are planned for a trip of the historical complex near Denizli.
Pamukkale, or as it is called the «cotton castle» is a high hill, covered with a brittle rock of snow-white travertines, which were formed thanks to the geothermal springs saturated with minerals. Water evaporates intensively in the hot sun, so calcium deposits are produced. The only way to walk on the travertines is barefoot so as not to break the fragile structure.
At the top of the hill there are the ruins of the ancient city founded in II century B.C. Here one can see the remains of one of the oldest amphitheaters on the planet. It once included 12,000 seats and had a great acoustics.
The tourist group will be guided to the unique attraction of Pamukkale – « Cleopatra pool ». This is the main thermal spring that emerged after the earthquake on the site of the destroyed Roman baths.
At the end of the tour, the guide will show the ancient necropolis of Hierapolis. This small ancient burial ground is located outside Pamukkale and is part of the general historical complex.
In the end of the tour program tourists are transferred back to the hotel.
