Visiting a Hammam is an opportunity to treat your body with pleasant procedures, having plunged into Turkish culture.
The Hammam concept was borrowed by the Arabs from the ancient Romans, and the Turks brought this culture to the level of art. According to the legend, after visiting Hammam, the Prophet Muhammad said that steam was useful for the soul and body. So, the baths spread in the Islamic world.
In Turkey, Hammams were an important part of public life. They were built outside mosques and purity was monitored by special government officials. Islam allows the divorce in exceptional cases. One is if the husband does not let his wife go to Hammam.
Attending the Hammam is a ritual and cosmetic procedure. The average temperature in the Hammam is 50 C, so even those who poorly tolerate the heat go to the Turkish bath. Thanks to the high humidity, which reaches 100%, toxins leave the body, the tan becomes even.
When going to Hammam, take flip-flops and a bathing suit. In Turkish baths, full nudity is not welcome.
Friendly staff will escort you to the locker room. Here, according to tradition, you should leave not only things, but everyday concerns. Going to a Turkish bathhouse is a purification not only of the body, but of the soul.
After changing your clothes and taking sheets and towels, you will enter the sauna. This is the first part of the procedure, designed to warm the body and open the pores. It is a Turkish tradition to sweat until the body is covered with small drops of sweat.
From the sauna you will go to the Hammam – a heated room covered with colorful marble. Here the second part of the procedure begins. The bath employee will offer to lay on warm marble and perform a peeling massage, removing the dead skin cells. After the procedure, accumulated fatigue will leave the body.
Then the real magic will begin. You will be covered with a huge soft cloud of fragrant soap foam that will give the skin softness and silkiness.
Afterwards, having lied on warm marble under gentle foam, you will go to the Jacuzzi where you feel incredible ease and strength. Your body will be grateful for the time spent in the hammam.
