Paragliding Tour in Alanya from Side

Paragliding from Side is a fine chance to take to the sky, enjoy the extraordinary sensation of flight and admire the scenery from above. It is an extreme sport that delivers a rush of new feeling and adrenaline.

Briefing and equipment

Whatever your level of training or experience in paragliding, every guest is briefed before the flight on how to behave and on safety. You will not fly solo but in tandem with an experienced pilot, and it is the pilot who controls the wing. The briefing takes only a few minutes.

A protective helmet is compulsory for the launch. It is also needed for the landing, though you may take it off while you are in the air. Each guest is securely harnessed in.

The launch and the flight

You launch from a mountain with a convenient take-off area. Depending on the weather you will take a few steps or a short run. The area sits 800 m above sea level. During the launch you must listen carefully to your pilot and follow the instructions exactly.

Guests stay in the air for around 25 minutes. A paraglider flight is partly like a parachute jump. The main difference is that you do not descend vertically but travel along a horizontal path.

A paraglider is compact and light. It differs from a parachute in its rectangular canopy and its greater size.

Cleopatra Beach

You land on Cleopatra Beach. Legend has it that Mark Antony gave it to the famous Egyptian queen. It is considered one of the finest beaches in the country, and its cleanliness and upkeep are regularly recognised with the Blue Flag.

Cleopatra Beach is striking from the air, but better still to walk on it yourself. Coarse sand, the clearest water and good facilities make for an excellent day.

Practical advice

It pays to prepare properly. When packing, do not forget:

• drinking water;
• sunglasses;
• sun cream with an SPF filter;
• a swimsuit (or trunks) and a towel;
• a camera or smartphone.

Choose comfortable clothing and footwear, ideally sportswear. You may not take photographs or video yourself during the flight, but your pilot will film it. At the end of the tour the finished footage can be bought separately.

Restrictions

Paragliding is open to almost everyone, but some restrictions do apply. Children may fly from the age of 6 and from a weight of 13 kg. Adults are limited to a height of 2 m and a body weight of 100 kg for women and 110 kg for men.

There are also health considerations. Flights are not recommended for pregnant women or for anyone with epilepsy, psychiatric conditions, or heart or respiratory illness.
